relationship. eric: so whether they are moving in together or getting married, what should they specifically be talking about? kurt: a very good question. of course, communication should center around some of those key tension points. usually that relates to how we are using debt. everyone has a philosophy of that and that can create some tension. how we are managing the cash flow, where is the money going. everyone has priorities and passions related to using their money properly. then of course, some of them are proactive decisions about what are our life goals and what do we want to be moving toward as a couple. those are three crucial areas. focusing in on the facts is a very important part. eric: you do not want to mislead them down the road. otherwise you will be in trouble. you have to be honest. kurt: exactly. sometimes when that wall gets built and we realize we are stuck in the same circular pattern in a relationship as it
7:44 am
issues that can bust us through that wall and into the next place is to have a renewed focus on the facts. that deals with the cash flow statement the net worth , statement, some of the stuff i have talked about four years. that is an important component because those facts can be looked at without judgment and without creating that expectation. eric: even if you are communicating well, there is going to be some tensions. how do you bust through that? kurt: setting up a weekly time that is specific to look over some of the specific financial documents, that can be one way for people to do it. usually in a couple opposites , usually attract so there is usually one person who is into the facts, gathering them and organizing them. it is very important to make sure that person is not alone in that process. the other individual needs to come alongside and say, tell me what you are seeing, tell me what you are noticing.

not as much sunshine as we saw yesterday. there is a light impulse along this frontal boundary that is moving toward the dakotas. i think any precipitation we see here would be well north of highway 20. notice down to the south, the warmer air is getting pushed out of the state, close to 70 today and kansas city, low 70's in st. louis, and cooler to the west. we have a frontal system that will be sliding through the state, changing our wind around two more north westerly on the backside, and eventually it will be cooling us down. at 7:00 this morning, we show the clouds, most of the rain is off to the north. i think we see a mostly cloudy day today.

dicaprio in "the revenant." dicaprio plays legendary frontiersman hugh glass who's left for dead by his own men in the dakota wilderness circa 1823. he is absolutely raw and riveting in this sweeping saga of revenge and redemption. dicaprio is winless in five previous nominations, but six will be his lucky number. brie larson is my pick for best actress in "room," a harrowing tale of a mother and her 5-year-old son jack, played by jacob tremblay who are held captive by jack's father in a squalid shack they call room. this is larson's first academy award nomination and she will bring home the gold in a heart tugging and heartbreaking performance. in the toughest category of the night, my choice for best picture is "spotlight," the true story of the boston globe's investigative team called spotlight that uncovered widespread child sex abuse by catholic priests in the greater boston archdiocese. it won the globe, the 2003 pulitzer prize for investigative reporting, and is my pick to win best picture. of course, nothing's for sure. but, one thing for sure, with
